FARM SCHOOL

The farm school is a Summer School for children and teenagers from 5 to 16 years organised by Collettivo Clochart of Mori. The farm becomes a big outdoor laboratory where you can combine the theoretical and the practical knowledge, and compare the experience of the farmer with the curiosity of the children, to create a stimulating interaction. The aim is to deliver the information related to the farming activity, the animal life, the jobs and the techniques applied for the elements’ production, to educate at the same time to the consumption and the respect of the environment, in a real and natural scenario.

THE DIDACTIC PROPOSAL

Learning is the basis from where the didactic project begins.

The proposal has been studied in detail with attention to really answer to the psychophysical needs of the youngsters.

It’s a Summer School made from youngsters for other youngsters where they can learn and spend time outdoors, but also try to express and share with the others what they experienced during the lockdown.

Learn to…

Listen carefully to what surrounds us to look at ourselves, as if it was the picture of ourselves reflected into a pool of water. Looking carefully at each other. Not only to look but also to watch and observe, which is the basis for a non-verbal observation to give your point of view, learn to think with the eyes and observe to preserve what you saw.

Explore carefully through sound walks around the farm, in the woods and among the houses, listening to the sounds, the noises and the silence that surround us. It’s important to hear to gather and tell “what you heard” through a verbal narration, a non-verbal one and the art of painting.

Imagine nature as it was your skin to discover your limits and the respect, starting from your body until you reach the others and you adapt yourself to the movement to feel, remember and understand.

Observe to learn how to choose. If you follow the abilities of our four-legged friends, they will guide you into your explorations and smellings, in the research of edible and non-edible plants, healing herbs, fragrant flowers and tree species. The exterior of the farm allows the explorations, the gathering and exsiccation of herbs, flowers, berries and roots. A herbal tea, a mixed salad, a herbal salt or an essential oil may be the products that the children will learn to elaborate during the attendance in this sense.

Join smelling and tasting, that isn’t the same as eating, but it’s a more refined and elegant action. It’s a choosing, a trickling and a learning through sight, smell and taste the food that our culture offers. But it’s also a decision, a cognitive orientation that places the action of bringing food to the mouth in a nutritional dimension where the food is nutrition and health. The path that we offer includes this substantial background and adds an exploration in the wide world of food, with the preference to the biological, with low environmental impact and zero-kilometre food.

This didactic proposal provides for the articulation in thematic and formative paths with related laboratories, that we consider fundamental to approach the agricultural sector, the soil and the nature to understand and respect it.

Theatre and its performative arts will be an effective way to learn and spend memorable and beautiful days.
